My Tutoring Service

I am a Highly Qualified Teacher with the knowledge, experience, and patience to work with students at all levels of education. My mission is to assess the needs of an individual, then render personalized guidance in understanding science concepts. I can recognize a student's learning style, and assist in developing the skills necessary not only to learn the material at hand, but also to improve the quality and speed of learning. I have been asked if I view myself as a biologist or a teacher. I am a teacher. I find myself always thinking of how best to explain, how best to exemplify, how best to excite others to learn. My math and English skills are also strong - these disciplines are inherently important in the biological sciences. Many of my former students have gone on to professional careers in the biological sciences, from medical professionals, to environmental engineers, to teachers. My field experience and research is based in the tropics, focusing on marine invertebrates. I had the privilege of directing a marine station, located on the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere. Many colleges and universities utilized the station, keeping me in contact not only with some of the top scientists of the day, but also with the student population. This phase of my career reinforced to me that biological knowledge has to go beyond the textbook, beyond the screen. Discovery is what develops a passion in learners to want to know, and want to know more and more. I feel the two intertwined aspects of my background continue to help my journey as an educator. I know my subject matter and I know how to impart that knowledge to others.

Experience & Qualifications
